05   Tofino Whale Watching

Every year, Tofino has a long whale watching season starting from March to October. Some of these massive mammals stay in Tofino waters for the whole summer, giving great opportunities for viewing. The Gray whale is probably the most common sighting in this area, recognizable by its encrusted barnacles. While they can breach, or leap out of the water, this behaviour is more typical of Humpback whales. Lastly, there are the orcas, also known as killer whales. It is harder to spot them but for sure is a sight to behold when they hunt their prey.
